Digital Guardian: We Look After Your Network So You Don't Have To
Remote monitoring, automatic firmware updates, priority support, and an annual on-site health check — ongoing management that keeps your Digital Fortress performing at its peak
Installing a Network Is Only Half the Job
Enterprise-grade hardware needs enterprise-grade maintenance. Ubiquiti releases firmware updates regularly — improving performance, patching security vulnerabilities, and adding features. Someone needs to apply them. Someone needs to check they don't break anything. Someone needs to monitor the system day-to-day.
In a business, that's the IT department. In a home, it's usually nobody.
Networks degrade over time. New devices get added without proper configuration. Firmware falls behind. Drive health deteriorates. Settings drift. A system that performed perfectly on installation day slowly becomes the same mess it replaced — unless someone is watching.
That someone is us
What Digital Guardian Includes
Remote Monitoring
We monitor your Digital Fortress remotely through the UniFi controller. This gives us visibility into:
• Device uptime and connectivity status — we know if an access point, camera, or switch goes offline
• Network performance — bandwidth usage, client counts, and throughput anomalies
• Storage health — drive status, capacity warnings, RAID alerts
• Security events — IDS/IPS alerts, failed login attempts, unusual traffic patterns
• Firmware status — which devices need updates and which are current
When something needs attention, we see it — often before you do.
Firmware Management
Ubiquiti releases firmware updates for access points, switches, cameras, and gateways on a regular cycle. Each update may include:
• Security patches for newly discovered vulnerabilities
• Performance improvements and bug fixes
• New features and capabilities
• Compatibility updates for new devices
We test updates on our own equipment first, then schedule deployment to your network during off-peak hours. If an update causes an issue, we roll back and investigate. You never need to think about it.
Priority Support
When something goes wrong — a device fails, a setting needs changing, or you have a question — Digital Guardian clients get priority response.
• Remote support for configuration changes and troubleshooting
• Direct contact with your installation engineer (the person who built your system)
• Remote diagnostics before dispatching an on-site visit
• Next-business-day on-site response for hardware issues
Annual On-Site Health Check
Once a year, we return to your property for a comprehensive health check:
• Full WiFi re-survey to account for any changes (new furniture, extensions, new devices)
• Hardware inspection — checking physical condition of access points, cameras, and switches
• Cable and connection testing
• Security audit refresh — re-testing your network's defences
• Performance benchmark — speed tests at key points compared to original installation
• Review of any new requirements — additional cameras, access points, or network changes
The annual visit ensures your Digital Fortress evolves with your property and your household.
Proactive Recommendations
As Ubiquiti releases new hardware and features, we'll advise you on upgrades that would benefit your specific setup. When we spot a pattern in your network usage — a new dead zone forming, storage running low, or a device consistently underperforming — we flag it before it becomes a problem.
This isn't reactive support. It's ongoing stewardship of your network

Is Managed Service Right for You?
Digital Guardian is optional. Your Digital Fortress works perfectly without it — we hand over a fully configured, documented system that you could manage yourself via the UniFi dashboard.
But most of our clients prefer not to. Here's who typically opts in:
Busy professionals:
You don't have time or interest to monitor network firmware. You want it to work — always — without thinking about it.
Non-technical homeowners:
You love the result but don't want to learn UniFi administration. You want someone to call who knows your exact setup.
Security-conscious clients:
You want the assurance that someone is actively watching your network's security posture and responding to threats.
Business users:
Your network uptime directly affects your revenue. Proactive monitoring and fast response protects your business.
How Digital Guardian Protects Your Entire Fortress
Digital Guardian operates through the same UniFi controller that manages every layer of your Digital Fortress. We don't need separate monitoring tools or additional hardware — it's built into the system.
→ Digital Foundation — we monitor switch, gateway, and access point health
→ Always-On Lifeline — we're alerted the moment failover activates, and investigate the cause
→ Digital Perimeter — IDS/IPS alerts are reviewed and actioned
→ Visual Sentry — camera uptime and recording status monitored
→ Digital Vault — drive health, capacity, and RAID status tracked
Common Questions About Managed Network Service
-
Digital Guardian is an annual service. Pricing depends on the size and complexity of your installation — number of devices, cameras, and sites. We'll provide a clear quote alongside your Digital Fortress installation proposal
-
Yes. If you initially manage the system yourself and later decide you'd prefer ongoing support, we can onboard you to Digital Guardian at any time
-
Your Digital Fortress works independently. We hand over a fully documented system with all credentials. You manage firmware updates and monitoring through the UniFi dashboard yourself. Many technically confident clients are happy to do this
-
No. Remote monitoring shows us device health and network metrics — not your personal data, browsing history, or files. For any configuration change or active troubleshooting, we contact you first. You can revoke remote access at any time
-
For remote support: same business day, typically within a few hours. For on-site visits: next business day. For critical issues (network down, security breach): we prioritise immediately and begin remote diagnostics within the hour
-
Essentially, yes. The same proactive monitoring, patch management, and support that a business IT team provides — scaled for a residential network. Without the salary
Start With the Audit. Decide on Guardian Later
The Digital Fortress Audit is free and no-obligation. It gives you a complete picture of your network's current state and a blueprint for your ideal setup. We'll discuss Digital Guardian as part of the proposal — but there's no pressure to include it
