Digital Foundation: The Wired Backbone Your Property Deserves

A hard-wired 2.5Gbps Ethernet backbone and Ubiquiti WiFi 7 access points — delivering enterprise-grade speed and blanket coverage to every room, every floor, and every corner of your property.

Consumer WiFi Wasn't Designed for How You Live

Your ISP gave you a plastic box. You plugged it in by the front door and hoped for the best. That worked when you had a laptop and a phone.

Now you have 40+ devices — smart thermostats, doorbells, security cameras, TVs streaming 4K in three rooms, a home office running video calls, and a teenager gaming in the loft. Your ISP router is trying to serve all of that from a single point on a single band.

Mesh systems help. Briefly. Each "hop" between mesh nodes halves your available bandwidth. Add a few thick walls, a couple of floors, and an extension, and you're back to buffering.

The fix isn't another box. It's infrastructure

What a Digital Foundation Installation Includes

We run structured cabling through your property and install Ubiquiti UniFi access points exactly where the physics of RF coverage demands them. The result is a network that performs like a commercial building — because it's built like one.

Ubiquiti WiFi 7 Access Points

We install Ubiquiti U7 Pro access points — WiFi 7, tri-band (2.4GHz, 5GHz, 6GHz), each covering up to 140m² and supporting 300+ simultaneous devices. These are ceiling or wall-mounted, PoE-powered (no plug sockets needed), and centrally managed through the UniFi controller.

For most homes, 3–6 access points provide complete coverage including gardens and outbuildings. Each access point connects to the wired backbone at 2.5Gbps — no wireless backhaul, no performance loss

Network Switching

At the heart of your Digital Foundation sits a Ubiquiti UniFi switch — typically a USW Enterprise or Pro Max series — providing 2.5GbE PoE+ ports to power and connect every access point and camera. All traffic is managed, monitored, and segmented through a single dashboard

Network Gateway

The UniFi Dream Machine Pro or Pro Max acts as your router, firewall, VPN server, and network controller in one rackmount unit. It replaces your ISP router entirely, giving you full control over your network with enterprise features: traffic analytics, device identification, threat management, and remote access from anywhere

The Foundation Powers Everything Else

The Digital Foundation is the first layer of the Digital Fortress because every other pillar depends on it:

→ Visual Sentry cameras connect via PoE to the wired backbone — no WiFi cameras dropping out

→ The Digital Perimeter firewall and VLAN segmentation runs on the gateway

→ The Digital Vault NVR stores footage over the wired network at full speed

→ The Always-On Lifeline failover plugs directly into the gateway's WAN ports

→ Digital Guardian remote monitoring uses the same UniFi controller that manages your Foundation

Without solid infrastructure underneath, nothing else performs reliably. That's why we start here.

Common Questions About Home Network Installation

  • Every property is different. A typical 4-bedroom home might need 10–15 cable runs and 3–4 access points, while a larger estate could require 25+ runs and 6+ access points. The free Digital Fortress Audit gives you an exact specification and quote tailored to your property

  • Most residential installations take 1–3 days depending on the size of the property and number of cable runs. We'll confirm the timeline during the planning stage after your audit

  • We route cables as discreetly as possible — through ceiling voids, wall cavities, and existing conduit where available. Access points are ceiling-mounted and about the size of a smoke detector. Most clients are surprised how invisible the installation is once complete

  • Yes and no -. Your ISP router is place into bridging mode and replaced by a Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro, which is a proper enterprise gateway with firewall, VPN, traffic analytics, and the ability to manage your entire network. Your ISP broadband connection still comes in the same way — it just terminates at better hardware

  • Cat6 supports up to 10Gbps over short runs and 1Gbps over 100 metres. Cat6a supports 10Gbps over the full 100m distance. For residential use, both are more than sufficient for the next 10–15 years of technology. We'll recommend which is appropriate for your property during the audit

  • Yes. We regularly work with period properties, including listed buildings. We use surface-mounted trunking, existing conduit routes, and careful routing to preserve the character of the building while delivering full network coverage.
